My journey into fitness has been one shaped by resilience, discovery, and transformation. Growing up, I was uncoordinated and struggled with proprioception, often finding myself frustrated by my lack of athleticism. But I found solace and purpose in mid- and long-distance running, where I learned that discipline and determination could overcome limitations. I competed in cross-country and track from seventh grade through high school, setting records and leading my team to the state championship for the first time in school history. What fueled me wasn’t just personal success but running alongside my teammates, pushing them to believe in themselves.
Despite my accomplishments on the track, I faced relentless ridicule for my small stature. When I became curious about strength training, the toxic environment I observed—especially among young women chasing unrealistic goals—drove me away from lifting altogether. I didn’t return to strength training until college when I earned a Marine Corps Naval ROTC scholarship at the University of Oklahoma. Again, I was underestimated for my size and perceived weakness. Determined to prove myself, I trained with relentless intensity but without proper guidance, leading to a devastating stress fracture spanning L4-S2. My dreams were shattered, and I was forced to step away from the scholarship.
What felt like the end turned out to be a pivotal new beginning. Physical therapy became my turning point. My therapist coached me with care, teaching me foundational movements and the balance between pushing forward and knowing when to rest. That experience sparked a passion for understanding movement, strength, and recovery.
Once I was released from therapy, I dove headfirst into self-guided training. I studied relentlessly—watching videos, reading articles, and experimenting with exercises in the early hours of the morning when I could avoid crowds. Through countless failures and moments of doubt, I rebuilt my body and mindset. Strength became more than physical—it was a testament to my resolve never to feel broken again.
As friends and family noticed my transformation, they sought my advice. Initially, I felt unworthy of guiding anyone, but I realized that my journey—the stumbles, lessons, and triumphs—gave me a unique perspective. I knew what it felt like to be lost and how to rise stronger.
While pursuing my Master’s degree at the University of Oklahoma, I earned my first fitness certification and began working at Crunch Fitness. What had once been an intimidating space became a place of growth and connection. I trained clients, shadowed experienced trainers, and absorbed diverse approaches to fitness. Eventually, I moved to Kansas and joined Genesis Health Clubs, where I learned from a former physical therapist turned trainer. His expertise broadened my understanding of functional fitness, allowing me to create more dynamic and personalized training programs.
The most transformative step in my journey was contracting as a personal trainer at Goddess Maker Fitness, an all-women’s gym. There, I grew not only as a trainer but as a businesswoman, building a full schedule of diverse clients across multiple locations. The supportive, close-knit community at Goddess Maker Fitness reinforced my passion for empowering women through fitness.
My coaching philosophy is rooted in empathy, science, and lived experience. I’ve walked the path of uncertainty and self-doubt, and I understand the challenges women face—balancing hormones, managing life’s demands, and navigating fitness journeys that are deeply personal. As someone who has battled PCOS and insulin resistance, I’ve learned through trial and error what truly works. My clients often joke that I’m “brutal with a smile,” but I balance intensity with compassion, knowing that flexibility and understanding are just as important as discipline.
Being self-taught has become my greatest strength. It has gifted me with the ability to adapt, notice subtle cues, and meet my clients where they are. Whether it’s helping someone build confidence, correcting form, or finding creative solutions to life’s hurdles, I’m here to be your guide, advocate, and biggest cheerleader.
Together, we’ll break through limitations, build strength, and celebrate every step forward. Let’s create a fitness journey that’s empowering, sustainable, and uniquely yours.
